                                                                                                              The Golden chain match!

 

It was 1991 and their was a match between Uruguay's two biggest teams was taking place: Penarol-Nacional. The theft involved Panamean international player Dely Valdez and Penarol defender Goncalves.

Valdez was Nacional's strikerfor wearing gold chains and rings, during matches.Goncalves was gaurding Dely Valdez as a corner kick was about to take place for Nacional, Goncalves ripped off one of Valdez's gold-chains and hid it in his sock.

None of the fans in the staduim saw what happened, but the TV cameras saw what happened, and after the game Valdez and the police were waiting for Goncalvez outside the dressing rooms. Goncalvez was arrested! But the charges were later dropped as he had returned the gold chain.  

Why did Goncalves do it? Goncalvez reply is very clear:
"I don't know what I was thinking"

But I know why, he wanted the fame and the bling. 

This match became known simply as the "golden-chain match"

Is the MLS really that bad at soccer?

 

In past years the MLS have beaten some very good teams, such as Fulham and Chelsea in English Priemership. and In the Scottish Premiere league they beat the Celtics. The MlS has shown that they can play against good teams like Chelsea and the Celtics and win. But the MLS still has a long way to go in terms of developement of the league and getting more fans towatch the games. 

 

 

                                                                                                                                

COPA AMERICA

This year in copa america it was very exciting their were comeback victories and upsets. One comeback was when Uruguay was playing mexico. Sebastian Abreu Uruguay attacker scored on a header goal in the 21st minute. Giving Uruguay the lead 1-0. But then in the 37th minute Lugano a defender for Uruguay fouled gerrado Torrado in the penalty box. A penalty kick was given to Mexico and Blanco Cuauhtemoc scored to tie the game then in the 68th minute Omar bravo scores from outside the box to give mexico the lead 2-1. Then Andres Guardado scored the last goal for mexico to end the game mexico 3 uruguay 1. The best upset of Copa America was when favored Argentina lost humillaitingly to brasil 3-0 in the finals of copa america. Brasil just played a great game with Julio Babtista and daniel Alves scoring. Then with a little luck from Robert Ayala captain for argentina who had an own goal to make the score 3-0 BRASIL!

The greatest match in MLS History

On Sunday night the San Jose Earthquakes played an unforgettable first round play off  match against the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Galaxy quickly scored 4 goals in just 13 minutes! The game looked hopeless for the Earthquakes, but they came back scored three goals and got a 90th minute equalizer from Chris Rońer. That sent the game into overtime where Rodrigo Faria scored the golden goal for the Earthquakes!  Rodrigo Faria was so happy after he scored that goal that he broke down crying on the Spartan Staduim field. The final score was Earthquakes 5 Galaxy 4. This is a game which will alaways be rembered by the Los Angles Galaxy and the San Jose Earthquakes players forever.

 

 

 

The U.S National Team


The US National is now in the semifinals for the GOLD CUP after beating Trinidad Tobago, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala,, and on Saturday beat Panama 2-1. The US is now in the semifinals in the Gold Cup facing Canada on Thursday night. But that is not the only thing that has happened to the US national team, they have raised their ranking in FIFA from above thirty to 6th place, they have gotten better leadership from Landon Donovan, and they have become an overall stronger team. e-mail us about your opinions!

                                     On wednesday night the Columbus Crew beat the third place Kansas CityWizards 2-1 to break their 4 game losing streak, since beating DC United. Eddie Gaven and Stefani Miglioranzi scored the two goals and those were both their first goals of the season. Eddie Gavens goal was a nutmeg past the Columbus Crews keeper past Kevin Hartman in the 56th minute. Then in the 60th minute Stefani Miglioranzi headed in a corner kick from Guillermo Barros, to make the score 2-0. Last Jack Jewsbury scored his first goal of the season also in the 92minute to make the score 2-1 Columbus Crew.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINALS!!!!!!

The champions league finals was a match between Liverpool and AC Milan. It was a good game, with Kaka doing some fancy footwork and some other players doing some moves. But in the end Liverpool scored one goal and AC Milan had two brillaint goals. The final score ended AC Milan 2 Liverpool 1.

Chelsea, I think is the new York Yankees of soccer I mean they were sn slmost absolutely terrrrrrrrrible team before Rome Abramovic came a long with all his money and started buying all the players like Lampard, Mikel Ballack, and Shevchenko. Also almost every player on their team gets payed millions because the owner Rome Abramovic is a BILLIONAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. This is really what the club Chelsea is about.

lost to Reggina a team that is in 15th place! If they had won they would have finished third over Lazio but somehow they sadly lost

Match Fixers!

This year 5 teams in Italian Serie A have fixed matches all of them have lost points. But you will

very suprised to hear what one of the teams is! The first team is AC Milan which lost 8 points for fixing matches!

The second is Lazio which lost 3 points, The third is Fiorentina which lost 15 points, the fourth is Reggina

which lost 11 points and the fifth team is Siena which only lost 5 points. Match Fixing is bad but why wuld AC Milan

the best team in the league want to fix a match? That is one of the stupidist things that a team like AC Milan

could do. Should all of those teams be moved down to Italian Serie B? e-mail us if you think they should or should not

              This year Barcelona went on a 14 game winning streak! But they fell one win short of Real Madrid's 15 game winning streak in 1960 to 1961. But Barcelona lost the Spanish Primera cup against Real Madrid. This what happened they were up one goal against Real Madrid but then Madrid took out Beckham and put in Jose Antonio Reyes scored two minutes after he was put in to tie the game.
